From the CEO’s Desk
May 2012
The grants we awarded to form the Research Institute Without Walls were rigorously vetted for scientific and strategic merit. About the only thing we didn’t include as part of the review process was a movie screen test.
So when I announced during the first session of our kick-off meeting that we’d take time at the break to make a short video to thank our supporters (you!), there was a little surprise and mild resistance. When the time came, I led everyone to the roof. “How can we make a video for the Research Institute WITHOUT Walls indoors?” I asked. They followed. And they performed admirably, as did the novice cameraman we recruited.
As you can see from the photo at right, we had a spectacularly clear day in Baltimore. The sunny skies reflected everyone’s disposition and optimism about their own and each other’s projects, as well as the framework and infrastructure we created for support and success. It was a memorable meeting. I hope you’ll watch the video below.
From the Baltimore rooftop, the researchers’ labs and clinics and our Charlotte office, we shout a collective “THANK YOU” to everyone who made a gift to the Catalyst Fund in support of research that will advance effective treatment for CFS.

How may we be a part of one of the research studies?
Hi Linda, The easiest way to participate in studies is to join the SolveCFS BioBank, a unique registry and biorepository created by the CFIDS Association in 2010. For more information, please send an email to biobank@cfids.org or call Gloria, our BioBank Coordinator, at 704-362-2343.
