Triple Your Impact!

Your engagement with the CFIDS Association suggests that you share our commitment to high-quality research that will improve the lives of people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS, also called myalgic encephalomyelitis or ME/CFS). Your gift today in support of our research-focused mission will go three times as far.

The McGrath Family Foundation has pledged to match two dollars for every dollar you donate, up to $10,000 $20,000. With your support, this challenge will help us raise a total of $60,000!

Your generous donation, like theirs, will support THECatalystFUND for research directed at finding better diagnostics and treatments for CFS. The CFIDS Association has put research first to end the life-altering disability, stigma and isolation of CFS.

This generous matching challenge is targeted to raise on-line donations from those who value our Research1st website and blog, receive our monthly e-newsletter, CFIDSLink, and participate with us through Facebook and Twitter.

Within the first six days, we met the original $10,000 challenge goal! The McGrath Family Foundation was so excited about your response that the Foundation has doubled its pledge! So we’ve secured their initial $20,000 pledge and have the opportunity to receive another $20,000 with your support through gifts totaling $10,000. The challenge period ends on Dec. 7, 2011.

Please make a gift today and triple your impact!

Thank you!

P.S.: Thanks to past support of our research program, our last group of grantees has secured nearly $5 million in follow-on funding from NIH and other institutions, representing a 7-fold return on investment! Let’s do it again!

You can read more about the Association’s transformative research program here: http://bit.ly/ub9oQ1

All gifts made online by Dec. 7, 2011 will count toward the challenge. You can also check The Catalyst Fund box at the bottom of our secure online donation page at http://bit.ly/2011fund.

UPDATE (Dec. 7): We are thrilled to report that we met — and exceeded — the challenge goal. Your gifts totaling $31,525 helped us secure the full $40,000 match from the McGrath Family Foundation, for a total of $71,525 added to The Catalyst Fund! We are still working toward our ambitious $2 million goal and we’re grateful for gifts of any size. Thank you for your support!

What a wonderful opportunity. Many thanks to the McGrath Family Foundation for their generosity.

Can you please clarify: “The McGrath Family Foundation has pledged to match two dollars for every dollar you donate, up to $10,000.” Does this mean (1) that matching will apply to an individual donation of up to $10,000, (2) matching will apply to an individual donation until the combined total reaches $10,000, or (3) up to $10,000 total is available for the entire challenge, including all individual donations and matching?

        Hi Anne,

Thanks for the opportunity to clarify — the McGrath Family Foundation will match donations of any size up to a cumulative total of $10,000, for a grand total of $30,000. Within the first hour of circulating the news about the challenge, our supporters have met 10% of the goal!

        Thank you!
        Kim

This is great news and I will be donating after this but am curious as to whether this is the Australian McGrath Foundation which supports breast cancer? I’m guessing not?

        Hi Annie,

The McGrath Family Foundation that has issued this challenge is in the U.S. Thanks for your support!

I tried twice to donate using my credit card. I used it for other purposes today successfully, but your site wouldn’t accept it. There is plenty of room on the card. This shouldn’t be so hard. I do not have time and energy for this so I will just have to miss the matching opportunity and donate by check assuming the U.S. mail is dependable.

        Hi Carol,

Thank you for your support! We’re sorry you had difficulty. Kim A. from our office will call to help identify where the problem might be so that others don’t experience the same issue. Thanks for letting us know!

The website worked for me – thanks so much McGrath Family! Does anyone know if they have a personal connection to CFS?

      Hi

There’s one thing i don’t understand. In the text above it says that the donations will support the Catalyst Fund. So does this mean that any donation during the matching period will go to the Catalyst Fund, no matter wheter the box for that fund is checked or not? Thanks.

        Hi Eric,

All donations to the CFIDS Association support The Catalyst Fund. We added the check-box to the online gift form in response to requests from people who wanted to be doubly sure their gifts would be counted toward the Fund.

I just made a $50.00 donation through PayPal, and I wasnt’ sure that it would be sent for this fund. The PayPal page didn’t have room for notes or additional information. I wanted this donation to be multiplied through the McGrath Foundation, and intended it for the Catalyst Fund. I know there was a check box on the donation form, but the PayPal page is separate. Can someone check on this for me?

      Thanks

        Hi Carol,

Thank you for your support! We’re counting all donations made online toward the McGrath Family Foundation challenge and the Catalyst Fund, so your donation will help us with both! Many thanks!
