Welcome to Research1st, a project of the CFIDS Association of America, the world's largest organization dedicated to making chronic fatigue syndrome widely understood, diagnosable, curable and preventable. CFS is also known as chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction syndrome (CFIDS) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME, ME/CFS or CFS/ME). We’re intensifying efforts across the field to build a critical mass of rigorous research that validates the biological basis for CFS and leads to improved methods of diagnosis and treatment. This website is intended to become a one-stop shop for the most current and reliable information about CFS-related research being conducted by top-flight scientists worldwide. There is exciting biomedical research underway that gives us reason to hope for improvements in CFS diagnosis, treatment and, ultimately, a cure. We’re firmly focused on the insights we gain in the search for definitive answers. You’ll find information here that reinforces how science unfolds, as well as information about trends in science and policy that present new opportunities for discovery.
